Primary Purpose of Position

Lead and provide group exercise program instruction through effective verbal and physical demonstration to promote physical wellness.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create safe and effective group exercise routines following our class format and Company standards.
  • Demonstrate the correct form and provide clear instruction of class format exercises.
  • Motivate and monitor class participants and give them feedback regarding correct form and/or use of equipment if applicable.
  • Nationally recognized group fitness certification.
  • A minimum 1 year of group fitness instructor experience.
  • CPR certification
  • Pursues training and development opportunities; strives to continuously build knowledge and skills, undertakes self-development activities; maintains current certifications.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
  • Assesses own strengths and weaknesses.
  • Shares experiences with others.

  • Nationally recognized group fitness certification.
  • A minimum 1 year of group fitness instructor experience.

Special Skills/Equipment

  • Personable and welcoming attitude to all members and guests in the facility.
  • Knowledge of the fitness industry and fitness equipment.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.


Essential Physical Requirements

  • Must maintain good physical fitness, able to lift at least 25 pounds and move boxes above shoulder level and must be able to stand for substantial periods of time working at the front desk, walking the facility and/or doing physical inventory.
  • Visual acuity and hearing to recognize emergency situations and take effective courses of action
  • Must keep a good physical and professional appearance.

The employee is frequently required to walk, reach, push and pull with hands, arms and legs; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities are required by this job include depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
