Sonnenalp Club is looking for a successful and enthusiastic event planner to sell, produce and create events for club members and the public. Along with scheduling and overseeing golf and member events throughout the year, the position will actively sell and plan special occasion and corporate events held at Harvest Restaurant and the Club Facilities. The position will be responsible for knowing our members and catering to their desires in regard to group and event functions.


  • Plan, design and produce events while managing all project delivery elements within time limits
  • Research market, identify event opportunities and generate interest
  • Establish relationships with local businesses, hotels and event planners to generate event business
  • Produce and maintain monthly, quarterly and annual event calendar
  • Liaise with clients to identify their needs and to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Negotiate contracts prior to closing any deals
  • Propose ideas to improve provided services and event quality
  • Organize facilities and manage all event details such as decor, catering, entertainment, transportation, location, invitee list, special guests, equipment, promotional material etc.
  • Assist client with all Food & Beverage requirements: up selling, recommendations, menu planning, explanation of menu items
  • Plan and distribute BEO's (banquet event orders; group menus with food, beverage, wine, set-up, decorations, and entertainment)
  • Ensure compliance with insurance, legal, health and safety obligations
  • Cooperate with marketing and PR to promote and publicize event
  • Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems on the event day
  • Conduct pre- and post event evaluations and report on outcomes
  • Be available for restaurant 'floor manager' duties during "non-event season"
  • Research and resolve member billing questions
  • Work in conjunction with the F&B Director and Executive Chef to create unique and special menus when required, finalize pricing and ensure profitability of events
  • Attend and lead the weekly BEO meeting with F&B Director, Restaurant Manager and Executive Chef or Sous Chef
  • Other duties as assigned

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Hotel or Business Management, or equivalent hospitality/club experience required
  • Minimum two years event management experience required
  • Private member based club experience preferred
  • Minimum one year operational experience in Restaurant Operations and Management
  • Impressive portfolio of previously managed events
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • Sales skills and ability to build productive business relationships
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently
  • Flexible schedule required with long hours at a time
